Jaipur and Pushkar

Our stay in Jaipur was for only 1 day but it was one of the most enjoyable. First we went to the Amber Fort that was sat on top of a hill so you got fantastic views, and there were monkeys everywhere! It was cool - I like the forts over here - theyre like a complete maze. Next was the monkey temple - Galta. Id read about it on a backpackers website, but when we got there we were the only tourists. It was like we had found our own piece of uncommerciallised Indian culture. It was at the base of 2 hills and was made up of different levels of sacred waters and a waterfall. With all the colourful saris it looked amazing. To finish off our stay in Jaipur we went to the city palace - full of amazing architecture and the observatory. - Jaipur has the best food weve come across so far.

Pushkar is by far our favourite place so far. Its so laid back and small. Its basically made up of a 1 road following round a lake - or ghat - again sacred. We spent a lot of time in the market , which was nice, as for a change no one was harrassing you. Found some amazing pancakes. That night we went to see a concert. It was in the perfect setting of an open air Hindu temple with bats flying above. The main guy was called Prem Joshua and he played the electric sitar and wooden flutes really well. There we a few others playing an aray of drums and even a mixing deck. It was a complete mix of Indian and Western music, complete with an Indian dancer. It was one of the best concerts Weve ever been to.

After a long 9 hour drive weve a rrinved in Jaisalmer - the Western point of India. This afternoon were going on a camel treck and have a night under the stars! Should be good.

Anyway hope everyones OK, I cant acess my hotmail here so Ill email anyone when we get to our next stop
x
