Wanaka - Day trippers

Yo dudes,

It was a quick journey through the town of Wanaka – a one day and one night stop over. The first night we stopped of for some supplies and made our way out to the DOC (department of conservation) campsite, just outside of town. On arrival we decided that we wouldn't set our tent up and just sleep in the car instead. Reason being that if the DOC inspector came to check our registration we would just say we didn't realise you had to pay for just sleeping in your car (ha, yeah right). I decided that it would be a good idea to go for a swim in the local river as it looked really clean and clear (as has every lake, stream, river, water feature etc). Went for just a dip as the current was pretty strong so didn’t venture too much. That evening we got invited to go and have a drink with an old couple from England. Very nice, Simone and I had plenty of nice wine and some crisps while having a chat about where we had been and where we were going. Lovely!

The next morning we just went for a walk around Lake Wanaka and through some vineyards. After our walk we left for our next destination. Franz Josef.
