Goa to Bangkok

Hello all!
We spent out final few days in Goa relaxing on the beach and in the evenings going down to the beach shacks to watch some fire poi - very cool! We had such a brilliant time in India we were both very sad to see it go, but four airport later we were in Bangkok. Bangkok is hectic and incredibly hot - but at the same time its quite relaxing - a complete change of pace from Goa, but already I love it. The first night was spent around patpong market where there were some bargins to be had and some intresting sights to be seen (like the lady-boys!).

The next day we took the ferry right up the river to the famous Khoa San Road to spend the next few nights. This place is completely filled with tourists and bars but its very cool all the same - that except from the bar located directly below our hostel window with some damn man singing oasis! Yesterday we spent the day looking aroung the sights of Bagkok which were amazing and completely different from India. The temples are completely covered in gold tiles to almost the point of gaudyness, but with the collection of pinnacles and towers it looks amazing.

This mornng we took to the bus to the ancient city of Atutthaya. Its much much smaller than Bangkok and there are hardly any tourists. We hired out 2 bikes and did a brief tour of the city, the hightlights including several ruins, an incredibly tall temple where the Tais were having some sort of religious festival and a green snake that I narrowly avoided after being chased by a dog on my bike! we got some delicious noodles from a cafe on the street for less than 15p! In the afternoon we got back to Bangkok and went the weekend market which is supposed to be the largest of its kind in the world. It was absolutely massive and sold some really strange things. For some reason we couldnt find our way out of the pet section, which was full of puppies, lizards, parrots and especially tropical fish - it was really intresting to see. After a hectic day we took a mad tuk tuk back to our hotel and ate some lovely tai green curry - the food here is lovely, Im definately going to enjoy eating here at the very least! x
